This is a quiet fishing village with an excellent beach that is almost 1 kilometer in length.

Where: This area is located about 15 kilometers to the south of Pattaya and takes about 20 minutes to get to via the Sukhumvit Road until Soi Na Jomtien 32.

For Whom:

  • For those who want the quiet life and little or no nightlife. More for those working here than holiday makers. The majority of residents here are respectble older people who are not into the party scene.
  • For those who prefer to spend their day on the beach yet still close to home. The beach lover will appreciate the quality and cleaniness of the beaches here compared to those in Pattaya or Jomtien.
  • Ideal for families with children who want to live in a peaceful area but with plenty to do close by such as the water parks.

Beaches: The beach here is a wide clean sandy beach wiith sunbeds and umbrellas still available which is not the case on some of the urban beaches. The ideal place for a days sun bahthing and the beachfront cafes are very good.

Attractions and Activities: Being a small fishing village there is not a great deal here, however saying that there is a pleasant park with a childrens playground and the fishing pier is a great location for a walk at sunset. There is also a local Thai temple.

Supermarkets/markets: As you would expect in a fishing village there is a market offering some great seafood as well as fruit and vegetables. In addition there are ahandful of small Thai shops as well as mini marts. For your main shop you would need to travel into Pattaya

Restaurants: This area does not have restaurnats offering international cuisine but the Thai restaurants here create some superb seafood dishes. Some of these restaurnats are designed to cater for large numbers so much so the waiters use radios to communicate orders. However the level of service and the speed in which you get your food will surprise you. One of the most famous restaurants is Sri Nyal Oscar and over the weekend you may find it difficult to get a table as it is so popular.

Sports: One of the main actiivities here is cycling. If you wanted to use a gym you would need to travel as currently there is not one situated here.

Public Transport: The main form of public transport is the white Baht Buses that travel along the Sukhumvit Road to and from Pattaya. There are also min vans that travel this route and will always stop to pick up passengers. These are all reasonable priced but they also tend to be rather full as the do not run as frequently as those in Pattaya. If you decide to make Ban Amphue your base you would be advised to have your own transport.

Properties: In this area there are only a few condos and houses available but they are good quality and designde for those who wish to enjoy a peaceful lifestyle.

  • Summary
  • Advantages – A quiet lifestyle with a quality beach close by.
  • Disadvantages – The infrastructure is very modest. For shopping, restaurants and general entertainment you will need to travel into town.
